Kathi Hanifnia is an Investment Director. She joins GIF from Beam, a social enterprise that helps homeless people into high-quality training and jobs, where she worked on a government commissioned programme in 5 London Boroughs. Prior to that Kathi served as a government economist at the Department for International Development (DFID). Whilst there, she focused on fisheries and agricultural trade policy including negotiations at the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
She also led economic and analytical work for DFID's Humanitarian Team, and managed several policy areas aimed at reforming the global humanitarian system including value for money, transparency and tracking cash in crisis. Previously, Kathi was an ODI Fellow in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Management in Vanuatu, and a consultant with the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) researching chronic poverty. Kathi holds an MSc in Economics.
