Dr. Santhosh Mathew joins the GIF Board

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Santhosh Mathew has joined the GIF Board of Directors.

He brings extensive experience of scaling evidence based-programmes through the public sector, and of achieving transformative social impact for millions of Indian citizens.

  • Dr. Santhosh Mathew currently serves as the Country Lead for Social and Public Finance Policy at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in India, having previously completed a distinguished career as a senior civil servant in the Indian Administrative Service in which he served as Additional Chief Secretary for the Government of Bihar and as Chair of the National Council for Teacher Education. Between 2013 and 2017 he served as the Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Rural Development within the Indian Government, and he was previously Professor of Social Management at India’s civil service college in Mussoorie and Country Director of the Leadership for Environment and Development program in India. He holds a PhD in Development Studies from IDS, Sussex, an MSc in Social Research Methods from the University of Sussex, and an MA in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics.
